How stupid is the California governor?
Last week the governor was in a panic because he claimed that the federal government was going to shut down I5.A plan to fire live artillery shells over a major Southern California highway as part of a military showcase attended Saturday by Vice President JD Vance drew strong objections from Gov. Gavin Newsom.
So, what does he do? Closes down parts of I5 AND THE FEDS SAID THERE NEVER WERE ANY PLANS TO CLOSE THE FREEWAY.
Now California is going to make its own insulin and sell it to Pharmacies for $45.00 a five pack. The claim is that the Pharmacies are going to sell it for $55.00. Their profit is only going to be $10.00. I worked wholesale and that is not going to happen.
Let’s use LA county where Newsom made the announcement. Advertising Costs: Even modest local ad campaigns (radio, print, digital) could exceed $10 per unit in cost, making promotion financially unviable.
Urban Overhead: LA pharmacies face higher rent, labor, and insurance costs than rural counterparts, further squeezing margins.
Volume Uncertainty: Without guaranteed high demand, pharmacies risk stocking a low-margin product that doesn’t move quickly.
