But in the Senate, passing most legislation—including funding bills—requires 60 votes, not just a simple majority. That means Democrats still have leverage even in the minority.
If Democrats want to claim the mantle of leadership, they need to stop using the American public as leverage and start doing the job they were elected to do. Until then, we’ll keep asking the question they hope we won’t: Who shut the government down—and why are we still letting them?
