Elon Musk fires X ‘election integrity’ team for undermining election integrity

“Oh you mean the ‘Election Integrity’ Team that was undermining election integrity? Yeah, they’re gone.”

Elon Musk announced on Wednesday that he has cut the Electoral Integrity team at X (formerly Twitter) in half, including the newly brought on board head of the group, Aaron Rodericks.

When the news was reported, Musk replied “Oh you mean the ‘Election Integrity’ Team that was undermining election integrity? Yeah, they’re gone.”

A person familiar with the circumstances, said that four people had been released, which constitutes the whole of the election integrity unit in Dublin.

In an August blog post, X said that there were positions available on the “threat disruption” team, and that they company was “currently expanding our safety and elections teams to focus on combating manipulation, surfacing inauthentic accounts and closely monitoring the platform for emerging threats.”

In a post concerning election integrity, the platform posted that “You may not use X’s services for the purpose of manipulating or interfering in elections or other civic processes, such as posting or sharing content that may suppress participation, mislead people about when, where, or how to participate in a civic process, or lead to offline violence during an election. Any attempt to undermine the integrity of civic participation undermines our core tenets of freedom of expression and as a result, we will apply labels to violative posts informing users that the content is misleading.”

The post clarified what that meant, however, and noted further that “Not all false or untrue information about politics or civic processes constitutes manipulation or interference. In the absence of other policy violations, the following are generally not in violation of this policy: inaccurate statements about an elected or appointed official, candidate, or political party; organic content that is polarizing, biased, hyperpartisan, or contains controversial viewpoints expressed about elections or politics; discussion of public polling information; voting and audience participation for competitions, game shows, or other entertainment purposes; using X pseudonymously or as a parody, commentary, or fan account to discuss elections or politics.”

This comes after Musk named a new CEO in the spring, Linda Yaccarino, who had been with NBC. She had stated that X would expand trust and safety teams, along with election integrity units.

Trust in the platform’s ability to police itself took a severe downturn after the publication of the Twitter Files, which revealed intensive bias within Twitter management toward Democrats and the left, and that government agencies had been interfering by insisting on policing speech on the site.

Some of the meddling Twitter undertook during the 2020 presidential election included suppressing negative information about Joe Biden and his involvement with his son’s business dealings. Voters polled after the fact said that had they known about these concerns, they would not have voted for Biden in that hotly contested election.

Why do Progressives have issues with the First Amendment? Musk sues California. If it’s not California, it’s New York, If it’s not Illinois it’s Massachusetts, and it goes on and on.

But all have the same thing in common. Violating people’s first Amendment rights. If it’s not parents it’s other politicians, lawyers, or people from the business world like Musk.

In Musk’s case, they’re not going after him in court, California is passing laws that take away free speech. What’s next with these loons?

Musk kicks butt and takes names.

“You just lied!” pressed Elon Musk to BBC reporter James Clayton. “You said you experienced more hateful content [on Twitter] and then couldn’t name a single example. That’s absurd!”

The above remarks were in response to James Clayton’s declarations that he has experienced more “hateful content” on Twitter since Elon took over the platform. But when Elon probed him to give an example, he stumbled, fumbled, and couldn’t come up with one instance.

This moment marks just one of many where BBC’s Clayton looked completely unprepared to deal with Elon Musk.

BBC’s James Clayton was hoping to be the one asking all the questions in this spontaneously-planned interview. But it turns out Elon’s curiosity sparked him to ask a few questions of his own.

One of those questions was about the BBC’s COVID misinformation policy.

“Does the BBC hold itself at all responsible for misinformation regarding masking and side effects of vaccinations — and not reporting on that at all? And what about the fact that the BBC was put under pressure by the British government to change the editorial policy? Are you aware of that?” asked Elon Musk.

“This is not an interview about the BBC,” responded Mr. Clayton. “Let’s talk about something else!”

Clayton asked Musk about his decision to reinstate former President Trump.

Elon stated that he didn’t vote for Donald Trump, but he believes people of all political persuasions should be allowed on the platform. “Free speech is meaningless unless you allow people you don’t like to say things you don’t like. Otherwise, it’s irrelevant. At the point in which you lose free speech, it doesn’t come back.”

The next topic was “misinformation.”

“Do you believe you prioritize freedom of speech over misinformation and hate speech,” asked James Clayton.

Mr. Clayton was caught off-guard as Elon turned the tables on him.

“Who is the arbiter of that [misinformation]? Is it the BBC?” asked Musk.

James Clayton stammered, “Are you literally asking me?”

“Yes,” replied Elon. “Who is to say that one person’s misinformation is another person’s information?”

Paid blue checkmarks were another topic. BBC’s Clayton asked if that feature would dilute the pool of sources people could trust.

Elon expressed that he often trusts the average citizens over professional journalists —because when a journalist doesn’t know an industry or topic too well and only has a few facts to play with, their article doesn’t exactly “hit the bullseye.”

“You’re sort of saying, who knows best? The average citizen or someone who is a journalist? And I think in a lot of cases, the average citizen knows more than the journalist,” he opined.

“If someone comes in and offers you $44 billion for Twitter right now, would you take it?” questioned Clayton.

” No,” replied Elon.

“Would you consider it?” Clayton asked.

“No,” answered Musk. Because “I do want to have some source of truth that I can count on.” And Mr. Musk said he believes that Twitter does that in real-time — and that the platform will only get more accurate as time progresses.

Lastly, Mr. Clayton asked for Elon’s response to criticisms that he “ruined” the platform.

“Well, we have all-time high usage. So I don’t think it has been [ruined],” expressed Musk.

“Some people say it has been. I’ll tell you that,” replied BBC’s Clayton.

“They’re probably the same people who predicted that Twitter would cease to exist, and their predictions have turned out to be false,” Elon responded

BOO HOO! Climate Activists Alarmed That Twitter Now Allows Dissenting Views on Global Warming

Visits: 30

By Bryan Jung for The Epoch Times

An organization that says it is a coalition of “climate and anti-disinformation organisations” says Twitter under CEO Elon Musk is allowing more dissenting views on climate change.

Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD), released a Jan. 19 study (pdf), accusing Musk of allowing misinformation about the climate crisis to spread on the social media platform.

The study accused Twitter of boosting the hashtag “#ClimateScam” to users when searching the word “climate,” as its top search result.

The hashtag has suddenly spiked on Twitter search results since July 2022, with its appearance increasing ever since, according to CAAD.

The report said that “in 2022, denialist content made a stark comeback on Twitter in particular.”

Twitter Search

CAAD alleged that at least 91,000 Twitter users reported the #ClimateScam hashtag more than 362,000 times by December.

“The source of its virality is entirely unclear, and re-emphasises the need for transparency on how and why platforms surface content to users,” said the study’s authors.

They said that term appeared to be trending despite “data that shows more activity and engagement on other hashtags such as #ClimateCrisis and #ClimateEmergency.”

The research team claimed that the rise of the term in search results could not be explained by user personalization, the volume of content, or popularity.

“A basic search for ‘climate’ on Facebook did not autofill with overtly sceptic or denialist terms; searching explicitly for #ClimateScam only showed 1.5k users mentioning the term, versus 72k for #ClimateEmergency and 160k for #ClimateCrisis.”

CAAD complained that the source of the #ClimateScam hashtag was unclear and that there was a need for transparency on how the search result came up. (Oh my! NOW they want “transparency!” –TPR)

“Equally, TikTok returned no search results for #ClimateScam, but instead suggested the phrase ‘may be associated with behaviour or content that violates our guidelines.’”

Interest Groups

The authors said that not enough of the content was labeled as misinformation by Twitter’s new management and claimed that it could not find a comparable trend or uptick in “#ClimateScam” on other platforms.

CAAD is partially funded by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), a think tank, which is heavily funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The ISD said it is working with social media platforms to explore radicalization online, to minimize the impact of extremist recruitment by groups in Europe and North America.

Since buying Twitter in October, Elon Musk has reduced the social media team’s staff by 50 percent and cut down its content moderation team to protect freedom of expression.

Musk has been a critic of Twitter’s past relationship with federal authorities and the intelligence services, and has released several batches of the so-called “Twitter Files” since late last year.

So, how does it feel to lose your power, wackos?

Thanks to Musk, we now know the so called conspiracy theories were actual facts.

Thanks to Musk, we now know the so called conspiracy theories were actual facts. So everything about the FBI and Twitter working together was true. The shadow banning, banning, exchanging information and Twitter being paid to block people and information.

What was pathetic was the FBI statement saying they only made recommendations. Let’s say that’s all they did. Why would a government agency be making suggestions on who to ban or what information should be allowed?

This from Musk.

“To be totally frank, almost every conspiracy theory that people had about Twitter turned out to be true. Is there a conspiracy theory about Twitter that didn’t turn out to be true? So far, they’ve all turned out to be true. If not more true than people thought.”

Elon Musk says he will make an alternative phone if Apple, Google ban Twitter.

Visits: 17

On Friday, Twitter owner Elon Musk, who also is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, said that if Twitter is removed from app stores owned by Apple and Google, whose phones only use those systems, he would create an alternative phone.

Liz Wheeler wrote, “If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?”

Musk replied, “I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone.”

On Friday, Taylor Lorenz used her latest column in the Washington Post to call for Apple and Google app stores to pull Twitter from their stores. This came after Musk announced that there will be a general amnesty for all banned accounts, following a poll of Twitter users..

Lorenz complains that Musk brought back conservative Christian satire site The Babylon Bee, who was banned by noting that Rachel Levine is a biological male. After Time Magazine awarded Levine “woman of the year,” The Babylon Bee awarded Levine “man of the year.”

On November 18, Musk noted how Apple and Google through their vertical integration have a duopoly on the market and wrote, “App store fees are obviously too high due to the iOS/Android duopoly. It is a hidden 30 percent tax on the Internet.”

Musk followed up and tagged the antitrust division in the Department of Justice.

Tell Governor Newsom I moved. Elon Musk confirms his move to Texas. So who’s next? Maybe California should raise Taxes again.
Elon Musk revealed his move from California to Texas during The Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council annual summit Tuesday.
Musk told the paper’s Editor in Chief, Matt Murray, that while “there’s a lot of things that are really great about California,” he believes the state is taking its success for granted.
The CEO has been hinting at leaving California for a while. Back in May, Musk tweeted that Tesla would “now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately” after local officials refused to let the company reopen its Fremont factory during the coronavirus pandemic.
