What happens when two dumb Asses get together?

I saw the other day how Jen Psaki was on with Katie Couric and was talking about how fair and balanced the White House Press room when she was Press Secretary. How the questions were asked that were newsworthy. Also talked about the right mix in the room. The only Conservative media under her that was there on a daily basis was FOX.

Newsmax, Breitbart, Daily Caller, and OAN were not allowed a daily presence. Psaki claimed that MSM asked newsworthy questions. Conservative media did not.

How sad.

Trump moves to declare antifa a domestic terrorist group.

Trump moves to declare antifa a domestic terrorist group.

This article originally appeared in the LA Times.

President Trump moved Monday to classify the broad left-wing, anti-fascist movement known as antifa as a domestic terrorist organization, opening up a new front in his battle with political foes and raising legal and ethical questions about how the U.S. government can prosecute a movement.

“Antifa is a militarist, anarchist enterprise that explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law,” Trump wrote in an executive order. “It uses illegal means to organize and execute a campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide to accomplish these goals.”

Militant activists who identify with Antifa have espoused an uncompromising philosophy of zero tolerance for fascists. Since the Republican president took office in 2017, protesters — concealing their identities with masks, dressing head to toe in black — have sparred with police to block a rightwing provocateur speaking at UC Berkeleyconfronted alt-right demonstrators with sticks, shields and chemical irritants in Charlottesville, Va., stormed a federal courthouse while protesting police brutality in Portland, Ore., and lobbed rocks at law enforcement as federal immigration agents ratcheted up raids in Los Angeles.

But critics warn Trump is utilizing right-wing activist Charlie Kirk’s recent killing to launch a sweeping government crackdown on his political opponents — and crush their constitutional rights to free speech and free assembly.

“I am very concerned that these actions are meant to punish disfavored dissent,” said Brian Levin, founder of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at Cal State San Bernardino.

In his order, Trump instructed all relevant federal departments and agencies to use their authority to “investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations — especially those involving terrorist actions — conducted by Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa.”

Trump claimed his administration would also investigate and prosecute anyone who funded such an operation.

As justification, Trump cited recent protests that took place in L.A. and across the nation. Antifa, he said, used “coordinated efforts to obstruct enforcement of Federal laws through armed standoffs with law enforcement, organized riots, violent assaults on Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other law enforcement officers, and routine doxing of and other threats against political figures and activists.”

Trump is fixating on left-wing violence even as data show U.S. extremists come from across the ideological spectrum: A 2024 federal report — recently purged from the Department of Justice website — stated that far-right extremists have killed more Americans than any other group and outpace “all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremists.”

To Levin, the administration’s laser focus on antifa, a diffuse movement that does not rely on traditional hierarchies, risks threatening “the civil liberties, not of perpetrators of violence, but the far larger and more visible civil society network of peaceful supporters, messengers and funders.” Experts say some of the groups are highly organized at a local level, but don’t have national or international coordination, as far as we know, or public leaders.

There is no evidence that Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in Kirk’s murder, was affiliated with antifa or any other network. According to his mother, he had “started to lean more to the left, becoming more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented.” Officials have said that in a text thread with his partner, Robinson said he killed Kirk because he “had enough of his hatred.”

As Kirk’s shooting triggers furious debate on the perils of left versus right political violence, there is little consensus among Americans on what extremism is, who is perpetrating it and when it is justified.

A significant swath of Americans, some experts note, tend to excuse or ignore violence on their side and not recognize it as terrorism if they sympathize with the cause.

“The biggest problem we face is that there’s no agreement on what terrorism is and it’s become completely subjective,” said Bruce Hoffman, senior fellow for counter-terrorism and homeland security at the Council on Foreign Relations.

“Luigi Mangione, for example, is he a terrorist?” Hoffman asked. “I would say yes. … But look, there’s a sold-out musical about him!”

What is antifa?

The term “antifa” — short for antifascist — was coined in Germany nearly a century ago, as shorthand for the Communist Party-affiliated Antifaschistische Aktion (Anti-Fascist Action) group that mobilized against Adolf Hitler and was brutally crushed when he came to power.

According to Mark Bray, a professor of history at Rutgers University, the term was picked up across Europe in the 1980s and ’90s and adopted by a broad swath of leftists, anarchists and anti-authoritarian socialists.

“Antifa is a kind of politics of pan radical left militant opposition to the far right,” said Bray, an ally of the movement and author of “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook.”

In uniting socialists, anarchists, communists and other leftists to organize against what they perceive as a common threat, Bray said, antifa is like feminism.

“There are feminist groups,” he noted, “but feminism itself is not a group.”

The first U.S. organization to adopt the name was Rose City Antifa, founded in Portland in 2007. It’s goal, according to its website, is “to create a world without fascism” and “ensure that there are consequences for fascists who spread their hate and violence in our city.”

“We are unapologetic about the reality that fighting fascism at points requires physical militancy,” Rose City Antifa said in 2017 before facing off with far-right groups and police at a pro-Trump march.

Other groups across the U.S., such as NYC Antifa and Antifa Sacramento, are part of the same loose anti-fascist network, but many do not explicitly call themselves antifa. There is no central organization, no command, headquarters or formal membership list.

The movement has grown in response to the rise of Trump.

“Suddenly, anarchists and antifa, who have been demonized and sidelined by the wider Left have been hearing from liberals and Leftists, ‘you’ve been right all along,’” the anarchist, antifascist journal, It’s Going Down, said in 2016 after clashes broke out on a Texas campus as protesters tried to cancel an alt-right speaker.

Could Trump designate antifa a terrorist group?

Many national security experts agree that Trump would be cutting a radically new path if he designated antifa as a terrorism organization: The U.S. does not have a domestic terrorism law, and Trump does not have the authority to designate antifa a foreign terrorist organization without approval from Congress.

“While the FBI has confirmed that antifa and other extremists are subjects of ongoing domestic terrorism investigations, it declines to designate any organization a “‘domestic terrorist organization,” a 2020 congressional report said. “Doing so may infringe on First Amendment-protected free speech — belonging to an ideological group in and of itself is not a crime in the United States.”

Trump could try to go after antifa as an international organization, Hoffman said, pointing out that there are antifa cells active abroad. But it would be a stretch to designate antifa an international terrorist group because there’s no known international command, control or coordination.

“It’s not like al Qaeda or ISIS, where you have a command or an emir in charge giving orders,” Hoffman said. “It’s an ideological affinity. Nothing more.”

Is antifa engaged in domestic terrorism?

According to the FBI, terrorism is “the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a Government or civilian population in furtherance of political or social objectives.”

For the Trump administration, the case is clear.

“Left-wing organizations have fueled violent riots, organized attacks against law enforcement officers, coordinated illegal doxing campaigns, arranged drop points for weapons and riot materials, and more,” a White House spokesperson said in a statement.

“These aren’t protests, these are crimes … where they are throwing bricks at cars of ICE and border patrol,” Trump said last week of the violence committed during demonstrations in Los Angeles over his administration’s immigration crackdown.

“They should be put in jail. What they’re doing to this country is really subversive.”

Bray rejected the idea that antifa is in any way a terrorist organization. “If by terrorists we mean something akin to Al Qaeda or ISIS with murdering people and blowing up buildings, it just is not any of that.”

However, Bray has written, most if not all antifa members “wholeheartedly support militant self-defense against the police and the targeted destruction of police and capitalist property.”

Hoffman argued that any acts of violence committed in pursuit of political goals constituted terrorism.

“Terrorism doesn’t have to be lethal to be terrorism,” he said. “There’s no doubt if violence, or the threat of violence, is being used in pursuit of a political motive, it’s terrorism. You have to call it out.”

2022 study from the University of Maryland’s National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism said U.S. data showed “left-wing radicals were less likely to use violence than right-wing and Islamist radicals.”

While the consortium says antifa poses “a relatively small threat,” it also noted “a recent increase in violent activity by antifa extremists, anarchists and related far-left extremists” — a trend it links to the “concurrent increase in violent far-right activity.”

Should the U.S. enact a law on domestic terrorism?

In the 1990s, when President Clinton tried to enact sweeping domestic terrorism laws, Hoffman said, Republicans raised concerns about 1st Amendment violations.

“The bottom line is back then it was as politicized as it is now,” Hoffman said. “If there’s a meeting, basically one side of the room wants to designate antifa and Black Lives Matter, and the other side of the room wants to designate Atomwaffen [Division] or the Base.”

Ultimately, Hoffman said, the U.S. does need a clear and precise law on domestic terrorism. But now was not the best time, he argued, as emotions are running too high after the Kirk shooting.

“If you’re going to go to these lengths, to change the laws of the United States, you have to have very firm, clear evidence,” he said. “At a time when talk show hosts are being deplatformed, when people are fired from their jobs, this is not the ideal moment to embrace profound changes in how we regard terrorism.”

NBC defamation settlement with Georgia doctor finalized in court following MSNBC’s ‘uterus collector’ coverage.

By Joseph A. Wulfsohn , Brian Flood Fox News.

NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News and MSNBC (the latter is currently being spun off as a separate company), settled the $30 million lawsuit filed by Georgia gynecologist Dr. Mahendra Amin. Amin who was the subject of a report claiming he performed unnecessary hysterectomies at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) center.

Both parties struck the settlement in February, but the lawsuit was officially dismissed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. The terms of the settlement were not publicly disclosed.

“We are pleased that Dr. Amin is able to move on from his years-long litigation against NBCUniversal,” Amin’s attorneys, Stacey Evans and Scott Grubman, told Fox News Digital. “It is unfortunate that he had to sue to get confirmation of what was known all along—that he did not perform mass hysterectomies on women detained at Irwin County Detention Center. We are glad that the judge found those statements false as a matter of law because, in fact, Dr. Amin performed only two hysterectomies, both of which were medically necessary and consented to by the patients.”

“Dr. Amin is a dedicated physician who has dedicated his entire career to serving underserved communities. The recklessness of NBCUniversal to try to paint him as an evil doctor was disgusting and we are glad they finally settled the case,” they added.

Representatives from NBCUniversal and MSNBC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Amin was the subject of an NBC News article in September 2020, which cited a whistleblower’s claim that he was performing unneeded hysterectomies while providing medical care to women detained at the Irwin County Detention Center.

MSNBC quickly followed with a series of on-air reports on “Deadline: White House,” “All In with Chris Hayes” and “The Rachel Maddow Show,” all running with the “uterus collector” label for Amin.

Amin filed a lawsuit against parent company NBCUniversal, alleging he was falsely portrayed as “an abusive, unethical, and dishonest physician who treated and operated on immigrant women in an abusive fashion, without consent, and motivated by profit instead of quality healthcare.”

Judge Lisa Godbey Wood of the Southern District of Georgia previously ruled that a jury could reasonably find actual malice and the trial was set to begin April 22, in Waycross, Georgia. In light of the settlement agreement, the court canceled the scheduled trial.

“NBC investigated the whistleblower letter’s accusations; that investigation did not corroborate the accusations and even undermined some; NBC republished the letter’s accusations anyway,” Judge Wood wrote last year in a 108-page summary.

IRONY: As Team Trump Takes Over, MSNBC Leftists Scream ‘Oligarchy!’

Liberals (really, the “Progressive Left”) cannot be satisfied unless government — their preferred instrument of exerting power — is in a position of complete supremacy over private business, i.e., the free economy. But the prospect of a new Trump administration next month threatens to reverse the Left’s gains of the past several decades, so their new buzzword is “oligarchy,” suggesting a handful of super-rich villains are on the verge of taking over.

Never mind that Donald Trump won re-election in November thanks to the votes of 77,301,997 Americans, extremely few of whom are billionaires (or even millionaires). Watching MSNBC the past few days, you’d have heard a cacophony of journalists insisting that democracy was already being supplanted by “oligarchy” as successful businessmen like Elon Musk are on the ascent.

This is basically the new Gilded Age that we are living in,” MSNBC legal analyst Melissa Murray fretted on Friday’s Alex Wagner Tonight. “It’s not a surprise that the administrative state is under assault. It’s a real problem for these oligarchs and corporations,” she added.

“This is what we are headed for. It’s not dictatorship. It’s oligarchy, government by the rich,” former longtime Newsweek writer Jonathan Alter warned on Saturday’s Velshi.

An hour later, Slate senior writer Mark Joseph Stern agreed: “It really seems like this coterie of billionaires and benefactors all sort of entrenching and reinforcing each other’s power and privilege. And if that isn’t an oligarchy, Katie, I’m really not sure what is.

Earlier (on Monday, December 23), occasional host Rachel Maddow suggested Musk’s success in blocking a massive government spending bill was a dangerous sign that billionaires were about to have the upper hand. She approvingly quoted from The American Prospect’s David Dayan: “This is going to be a constant theme of the next four years. Personal business interests are going to constantly take precedence over governance in the Trump/Musk White House. The word for this is oligarchy, and oligarchs do not think about the country first.

And on Tuesday’s The ReidOut, David Corn of Mother Jones magazine blasted Republicans for their “acquiescence” when it comes to Trump’s nominations: “They’ve accepted this clown car cavalcade of cranks, oligarchs and cronies for his appointments to very important positions that will threaten our health and safety.”

Of course, one way to avoid the power of a dangerous “oligarchy” is to reduce government’s authority over economic activity — with less power at stake, there would be less for the super-rich to gain from buying up compliant pols. But a less powerful federal government would also be a less powerful tool for the Left, so don’t expect them to discover their inner Libertarian.

Here are short transcripts of MSNBC’s liberals on Friday and Saturday wailing about the coming “oligarchy,” each followed by a video showing the context of each remark.

# Alex Wagner Tonight
December 27, 9:20pm ET

Host ALEX WAGNER: It says something as we look towards the broader landscape of the incoming Trump administration about the power of billionaires, right? It’s largely unchecked. This is what Dick Durbin had to say — he’s the outgoing chair of the Judiciary Committee — he says, “Whether failing to disclose lavish gifts or failing to recuse from cases with apparent conflicts of interest, it’s clear that the Justices are losing the trust of the American people at the hands of a gaggle of fawning billionaires.” I mean, you have Elon Musk in the executive branch, you have Harlan Crow in the judicial branch, you have untold billionaires working their way into the legislative branch. I mean, just give me your opinion on this sort of, I’m not going to call it, officially, ‘kleptocracy,’ but man, Melissa, this is deeply problematic on a number of levels when you looking at the amount of money and the outsized influence it could buy.

MSNBC legal analyst MELISSA MURRAY: Wouldn’t we call it a kleptocracy? Maybe an — certainly an oligarchy gone amok, for sure, Alex. This is basically the new Gilded Age that we are living in, and we’ve seen the effects of it. The Supreme Court overturned the Chevron Doctrine last year, and there’s been reporting from the New York Times that has made clear that that was a multi-year project funded by the conservative legal movement and the Koch brothers network, which has a true interest in corporate deregulation, in hobbling the administrative state. Because administrative agencies issue regulations that often make it more costly for corporations to run because those regulations make it safer for consumers but more expensive for corporations to make their products. It’s not a surprise that the administrative state is under assault. It’s a real problem for these oligarchs and corporations, and so it’s no surprise the American people are losing faith in the Court when they see these cozy relationships between the Supreme Court justices and these oligarchs who sometimes function, apparently, as emotional-support billionaires….

# Velshi
December 28, 11:07am ET

Former Newsweek writer JONATHAN ALTER: He [Trump] becomes a lame duck on January 20th. I know people talk about him getting around the 22nd Amendment and being in office forever. That’s not going to happen. So he, his political power will start to ooze out of him, and a lot of the accountability will be reflected in the — first in the Virginia and New Jersey gubernatorial elections this coming year, and then in the 2026 midterms. But if he ends up governing with a billionaires boys club — you know, he’s already appointed 12 billionaires — that’s not what he promised. He promised to look out for middle class working families. And if his policies include, you know, deep cuts to very popular programs, or other things that don’t really seem to resemble the populist promises that he made during the campaign, his popularity is going to suffer….

There are a lot of ways of fighting back, but it depends on ordinary people to organize against oligarchy. This is what we are headed for. It’s not dictatorship. It’s oligarchy, government by the rich. And we need to get a sense in the days ahead of whether Democrats, independents and even some anti-Trump Republicans are willing to organize against this. This doesn’t mean, like, massive resistance. You have to pick your battles, but Democrats have a lot of tools available to them, and it’s on. This is going to be a struggle between his critics and the administration for the next four years.

# The Katie Phang Show
December 28, 12:26pm ET

Slate’s MARK JOSEPH STERN: [Supreme Court Justice] Clarence Thomas has devoted his career to destroying campaign finance laws and granting billionaires a First Amendment right to purchase elections. Elon Musk, the richest man on the planet took advantage of those decisions to essentially buy Trump the presidency, to bail him out and to put Trump back in the White House. And because of Musk’s work now, [Justice Thomas’s wife] Ginny Thomas is going to have access to the Oval Office, Ginny Thomas is going to have meetings with Donald Trump, pushing her preferred policies, and there is no real chance that the President will approve of any kind of accountability for Clarence Thomas’s violation of the law. Come on! We know Trump is not going to approve court reform, he’s not going to impose a code of ethics, or sign one if Congress happens to pass it. His Attorney General is certainly not going to bring the civil or criminal penalties that could be on the table because of Thomas’s law-breaking here. And so it really seems like this coterie of billionaires and benefactors all sort of entrenching and reinforcing each other’s power and privilege. And if that isn’t an oligarchy, Katie, I’m really not sure what is.

Oh Noes! Newsmax Defeats CNN in Key Ratings on Christmas Eve

Santa Claus came early for Newsmax as ratings for Tuesday showed Newsmax beat competitor CNN for four consecutive hours.

On Christmas Eve Nielsen reported Newsmax scored decisive wins against CNN from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET.

Newsmax shows went head-to-head with CNN and their special holiday programming winning each time in “P2” or total audience for all viewers.

Here were Tuesday’s Nielsen’s:

  • 5 p.m. ET: “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE” with Lidia Curanaj substituting drew 324,000 viewers to CNN’s 251,000.

  • 7 p.m. ET: “Rob Schmitt Tonight” with Bob Brooks substituting drew 297,000 viewers to CNN’s 205,000.

The recent Newsmax ratings wins are not unusual.

“Rob Schmitt Tonight” has been winning against CNN during prime access regularly, with other Newsmax shows winning or coming close.

CNN is in about 10 million more homes than Newsmax, making the network ratings wins even more impressive on a proportionate basis.

Nielsen said Newsmax’s audience Tuesday in prime access was so large it beat the combined ratings of Fox Business, CNBC, and liberal NewsNation.

Newsmax continues to take a big chunk of Fox News’ audience, pulling nearly 20% of the network’s total audience number for total day.

Between its non-rated streaming channel, N2, and its cable channel, Newsmax estimates it draws about 30% of Fox’s total audience.

“Newsmax had a remarkable ratings year in 2024 and we’re excited about 2025,” Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy said.

In June, the Reuters Institute said Newsmax was one of the top 12 U.S. news brands.

And a recent Pew study found Newsmax was a top source of news for Americans during the 2024 election, ranking with CBS, NBC, The New York Times, AP, and X, among others.

Fact Check on the Whoopi Lie.

Fact Check on the Whoopi Lie.

Below is the Breitbart correction on a lie Whoopi told on the View.

By Warner Todd Huston

The owner of Holtermann’s Bakery in New York City is denying that comedian and The View host Whoopi Goldberg’s order was refused because they don’t like Goldberg’s left-wing politics.

On Wednesday, Goldberg claimed that a bakery — which she did not name — had denied her dessert order because they disagreed with her political proclamations, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“My birthday dessert today was one of my mom’s favorites from when she was a kid, she talked about these all the time, they’re called Charlotte Russe. It’s a sponge cake with whipped cream and a cherry on top. I should tell you, Charlotte Russe has no political leanings. The place that made these refused to make them for me,” the TV host exclaimed on Wednesday’s broadcast.

After she made that claim, cast member Sarah Haines spit out her mouthful of the dessert. But Goldberg explained.

“They said that their ovens had gone down, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why I’m not telling you who made them,” she exclaimed. “It’s not… because I’m a woman, but perhaps they did not like my politics. But, that’s okay, because you know what, listen, this is my mother’s celebration. Pick these up and celebrate with me and my mom. Thank you everyone for celebrating my birthday today.”

Despite that Goldberg didn’t name the bakery, the magazine tracked down the establishment and asked bakery owner Jill Holtermann about the accusation.

Holtermann confirmed that Goldberg had made an order two weeks ago, but denied that anyone at the establishment punished Goldberg for her political views.

“They’d asked us and we were having trouble with our boilers,” Holtermann told EW. The bakery owner added that it was known that Goldberg made her order for a November 6 and a November 13 broadcast of The View. But the orders were refused because of the technical issues and because Holtermann “didn’t want to make a commitment that I can’t carry through.”

However, she also said that her establishment was able to make 50 Charlotte Russe desserts that appeared on Wednesday morning’s episode. Holtermann also said that no one in her shop had any idea about the political leanings of those who picked up the orders.

Holtermann also pointed out that her building was built more than 100 years ago and sometimes there are mechanical problems and she was fearful that she could not take a long-term order based on the issues.

“I said to Whoopi, ‘I can’t do it right now,” Holtermann told EW. “We have so many things going on with my boiler,’ because the building is from 1930, so, when she called me, I had no idea [if we could] be baking everything.”

She firmly insisted that “it was not because of political” ideals.
