What happens when you shut down clean energy and rely on wind and solar?

What happens when you shut down clean energy and rely on wind and solar?

Your utility bills go sky high. This happened in New York. We have this from the NY Post.

A decision to close a nuclear power plant that once supplied a quarter of New York City’s and Westchester County’s electricity is drawing renewed scrutiny as energy bills rise and green energy goals become more elusive. While data is only as recent as 2023, natural gas’ share of electric generation in the Empire State jumped to 50% from 39% in 2017, according to a report by the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity, as detailed by the Post.

The same report said closing Indian Point led to eight more megatons of carbon dioxide pollution in 2022. As the state tries to lower pollution and keep energy bills in check.

So where did these high Utility rates prices originate?

Look no further than the Biden administration. A US Senator put up a chart thinking she was showing that it was under Donald Trump. But look closely at the chart the Senator posted.

Notice the years?

The chart showed prices were already rising three years before Trump took office. Guess who was ‘president’ from 2022-2024?

Going Nuclear. Next Generation Reactors.

Going Nuclear. Next Generation Reactors.

Forget wind and solar. The next generation nuclear reactors may be the way to go. Smaller, less expensive to build and maintain, and not dependent on the weather.

When completed, the nation’s first grid-scale advanced nuclear reactor will power a 4,700-acre facility that produces plastics and other materials used in dozens of products.

Dow Chemical and the nuclear energy engineering firm X-energy submitted a construction permit this week to the federal government for a small modular reactor, or SMR, at Dow’s Seadrift, Texas, manufacturing site. The reactor will replace an aging natural gas plant and eliminate nearly all greenhouse gas emissions.
