Trump White House aide points finger at Jan. 6 National Guard call-up in 14th Amendment trial.

Former Trump administration aide Kash Patel on Wednesday denied claims that President Trump chose not to call up the National Guard during the Jan. 6 attacks or delayed efforts to approve their deployments in testimony he provided in the former president’s 14th Amendment case in Colorado.

Patel, who was the chief of staff to acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller during the Jan. 6 attacks, argued that it was instead D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser who delayed calls for the National Guard in the days before the riot.

Code words for Anti Semite. I’m Pro-Palestinian.

Code words for Anti Semite. I’m Pro-Palestinian. We’re hearing about all these protests nationwide. Heck even worldwide. River to Sea, Free Palestine, but yet it wasn’t Israel who killed whole families in a sneak attack. Burned babies, beheaded people, etc.

Look at the college protests. what does kill the Jews have to do with free Palestine? Most of these skulls full of mush have no idea of what’s going on. Now are there Arabs who are concerned and do wish for co-existence? Yes but they’re not the ones protesting.

You have a Cornel Student arrested for wanting to kill Jews. He published posts in an online discussion forum in which he threatened to kill and injure Cornell’s Jewish students and “shoot up” the university’s predominantly kosher dining hall.

In one post, Dai wrote he would “bring an assault rifle to campus” and shoot Jewish people, This is how you free Palestine?

You make the call. Egypt says Hamas and their followers stay out.

You make the call. Egypt says Hamas and their followers stay out. The Egyptian Prime minister does not want these Arabs posing as a make believe group called Palestinians. Hamas loyalists are most likely in this group also. In the past several other countries forced these folks out. Egypt does not want to see these folks on their land. We have this from the WSJ.

Amid rising pressure on Egypt to admit Palestinian refugees, the country’s prime minister, Mostafa Madbouly, said it remained committed to protecting its land and sovereignty regardless of the cost.

“We are prepared to sacrifice millions of lives to ensure that no one encroaches upon our territory,” Madbouly told a gathering in Sinai of military leaders, local tribal leaders, members of parliament and other politicians. The prime minister said Egypt would never allow any imposed situation or the settlement of regional issues at its expense. Senior officials in Egypt said however that the country would start taking in severely wounded Palestinians from Gaza on Wednesday to receive treatment at field hospitals in north Sinai.

Homeschooling is booming.

Homeschooling is booming.

A historically high number of US parents see their kids as too cool for public, private, or charter school and have opted to educate them at home instead.

The number of homeschooled children during the last academic year was 51% higher than in 2017–2018 in states with available info, according to government data crunched by the Washington Post. At the same time, public school enrollment dropped by 4%.

Though homeschooling rates have decreased from pandemic highs, what used to be a niche education arrangement favored mostly by religious parents is now going mainstream nationwide.

  • WaPo’s analysis puts the total number of American kids learning their ABCs at home between 1.9 million and 2.7 million, exceeding the Catholic school student body in the US.
  • The uptick in alternative schooling doesn’t seem to be associated with a low quality of traditional education, as it’s popular in academically high-performing districts as well.

Why has homeschooling gotten so big?

Parents cite several reasons for doubling up as education administrators: schools failing to meet their kids’ unique needs, bullying, and increasing concerns that curricula don’t align with their values. But there are also economic factors at play. Government programs in several states offer parents thousands of dollars’ worth of homeschooling support each year, while nonprofits provide funds to homeschoolers too.

The booming homeschooling rates have created an entire industry catering to parents who don’t want their kids to spend their days waiting for the bell.

  • OutSchool, a platform that allows parents to design bespoke curricula out of crowdsourced classes, has brought in $255 million in VC funding since 2015.
  • Companies like Prenda, which describes itself as an “Airbnb for education,” help parents set up microschools where five to 25 students learn under a supervisor.

While lunch is doubtlessly better at home…many education experts are skeptical that most parents can match the teaching skills of trained teachers. They note that few requirements exist to ensure quality in homeschools, and they worry that homeschooled kids might miss out on formative schoolyard socializing.—SK
