California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday that while the state is continuing to add to its battery storage, it is not enough to avoid blackouts during heat waves, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Newsom said the state had battery storage systems with the capacity of 10,000 megawatts, 20% of the 52,000 megawatts California said is needed to meet climate goals, the Times reported. Newsom said California aims to have 100% clean energy by 2045.

Officer Salvatore Provenzano, a 17-year veteran of the New York Police Department (NYPD), was charged with third-degree assault in 2023 — two years after a body camera captured the October 2021 interaction between him and Kamal Cheikhaoui, a man who had repeatedly refused to leave the Upper West Side store, CBS News reported.
Cheikhaoui, whom the New York Postdescribed as a “repeat offender,” was reportedly acting “unruly” in the Apple Store before security asked him to leave, prompting Provenzano and other cops to step in to remove him.
Body camera footage that another responding officer captured begins with Cheikhaoui loudly demanding to purchase merchandise and trying to push past security as Provenzano takes him by the arm and leads him toward the exit. When the suspect gets loose from his grasp and suddenly turns, the officer strikes him in the face:

Police union representatives happily announced on Thursday that the charges had finally been dropped.
The Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York (PBA), which represents more than 50,000 active and retired NYPD officers, said it was “grateful to get justice, but Manhattan prosecutors should never have brought the case in the first place.”

If this supposed student thinks like this, how long before he actually acts on this? Amid the ongoing anti-Israel protest in the US universities, one of the Columbia University student demonstrators was heard repeatedly stating that Zionists “don’t deserve to live” and should be murdered in a viral video.
“The existence of them and the projects they have built i.e. Israel, it’s all antithetical to peace. So yes I feel very comfortable — very comfortable — calling for those people to die,” said Khymani James,
“Zionists don’t deserve to live.”

He said this during a live-stream which included a meeting with the school over threatening social media posts.
Since this comment, Columbia has banned this person from campus and this person gave an apology saying he misspoke.

Isn’t it strange that protestors were marching on Justice Kavanaugh’s house, nothing was done. Marched on college campuses and again nothing. But when they march on pro Hamas supporter Chuck Schumer there were 200 arrests made.
Protesters were either standing or sitting in the street with their arms linked together as they chanted, “Cease-fire now” and “Let Gaza live,” footage from the group shows.
Authorities arrested the throngs of protesters without incident and led them onto MTA buses that were being used to transport them to booking, according to photos and video at the scene.
Where is he when we needed him? Mayor Daley would put the Hamas folks in their place. OK so he rigged elections. But when heads needed to be cracked and the crowd needed to be dispersed he was the man who got things done.
The pro Hamas crowd wouldn’t know what hit them. Would this type of crowd dispersal end up in the courts? Of course they would. But I would be willing to bet that this would deter many of these folks to think twice before they riot again.
